What kind of about me section is this?

Good den!

I’m April Plascencia, an actress originally from down south on the border in Laredo, TX.

Currently, I’m based in Lincoln, Nebraska, and you might wonder, “April… why?” It’s a funny story! I grew up in love with musical theatre thanks to Sharpay Evans from High School Musical and my sister, who introduced me to Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera at the unfortunate age of 6.

Despite the trauma that it induced, I found myself entranced by the love and effort poured into these productions. However, due to my lack of theatre opportunities in Laredo, I was looking in other places in hopes of feeding my creative side. That’s when I found the wonderful world of voice-over for animation! Or, well, when I thought of it as acting rather than just another show to watch.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I met my best friend, Toby, who shared the same love for acting. Who encouraged me to post my work online and seek out-of-state options for theatre schools. Suddenly, I dropped my psychology applications and found myself at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film! Since then, I’ve worked hard to learn how to act on the big stage as Little Sally in Urinetown, and even worked on voice-over / commercial reels with Hank Stratton.

One day, I hope to be the comforting voice in a child’s life, like many actors were for me.
